The Ghost Living in My House

by Jacqui
(England)

It all started ages ago when I was about 3 and apparently I was in my room playing with my toys and talked to these three children ghosts dressed in white. I showed them my toys and then my mum came in and asked who I was talking to and I pointed into thin air. I said one was sitting on the curtains....how??

My house was hit by a bomb in the world war also an inventor used to live in my house! The house was rebuilt so they could appear anywhere in the house!

But it was strange that my cousin, when he was really small, said that he saw lots of people in my room. A few years ago I invited my friend over to my house. We took some photos because we felt like it and when we looked at them, behind my friend's head was a mirror. In the mirror we saw the reflection of a female middle aged woman with black hair. We both got seriously freaked out after this.

Also we took a video and dropped the camera on the floor after using it and forgot it whilst wiping up a spillage. The camera moved by itself facing the window and there were about five orbs passing the camera! And the freakiest experience ever was when I fell asleep on the sofa in the living room; something got me to wake up in the middle of the night and behind the TV I SAW HER STARING AT ME!!! Just as if she had the biggest shock of her life and glaring at me. She wasn't see-through and I pulled the covers over me trying to persuade myself that I didn't see anything and to forget about it.

But everyday I felt my spine being touched and it feels so ticklish that I need to scratch it. My room is so cold that it is very hard to get it to room temperature, stuff in my room make weird noises and stuff is knocked in front of my very eyes and a bag opened by itself when I was in the bathroom, with the door shut! My friend even heard tapping on the window and felt something pinch her knee.

But even though she sometimes makes me so scared, I don't think she is evil! Because she has been with me for most of my life :)

Sorry I had to write such I long experience hope you liked it.

Ghosts and Hauntings: The House on Monroe

by Samantha
(Illinois)

From April 30, 2004 to August 24, 2007 we lived in a house that a mean little girl named Emily haunted.

When we first moved in our oldest son was getting ready to turn a year old. We would hear him at night just chatting away. We didn't think anything of it because we know that children are able to be cotacted by the other side. I am sensitive to the other side. I don't always see them them but I feel them.

I could feel a presence in the house. At first we just figured it was old, out of date wiring. We had the electrical checked, nothing was throwing off any high EMF. That was completely ruled out.

The longer we lived there, the more uneasy I became. We fought all the time. The fights got worse the longer we lived there. On my 25th birthday in January of 2007 my eldest son came to me crying and said "Emily just scratched me."

He had been sleeping and I was not sure if there was a little girl in his pre-school class named Emily or not, so I asked him who Emily was. He said, "The mean little girl in my room." So I asked him where she "scratched" him and he pointed to the back of his neck.

SO I looked at his neck and there were scratches going from his neck all the way down his back, so I know he couldn't have done that himself. I freaked, went running to his room and there was no one there. I asked him where is she? And he pointed at his bed and said "She's sitting on my bed right there."

When I told him I didn't see her he started to cry and say "She's making a scary face now." I asked him what she looked like he told me that she looked like "Ghost Rider" only her head didn't have fire, it has hair. I asked him if she looked like that all the time. He told me no, only when she is being mean.

That freaked me out even more so I asked him how long he has been playing with "Emily" and he told me "Mommy, she has always been here. I always play with her."

He ended up sleeping with us the rest of the time we lived in that house. The last few months in the house were a living hell. The last week while we were packing we started to argue and it kept getting worse until we almost started hitting each other. We just stopped and looked at each other like we didn't know the other. We have been in our new house for almost two years and we have never fought like that. We still have little meaningless spats like all married couples but that is all.

The good news is that "Emily" didn't come with us. And even more good news is that the elderly lady who used to own this house is still here and she doesn't bother us a bit. We go about our business and she goes about hers.

I hope you enjoy my story. No one has lived in that house for very long since we have lived there. We were the longest tenants the landlady had ever had in that house. Everyone else stays no more than a year.

The Front Door

by Shelby H
(Plymouth, Indiana, USA)

It was a normal day for me. I was sitting on the couch and watching TV. The front door was completely closed. Then I heard a creaking sound and noticed that the front door was opening, by itself! I was scared out of my wits! I was brave enough to go over to the front door and I swung it open, but there was nothing there.

Ever since that day, I have believed in ghosts and spirits. I believe that there is one in my house. I tried talking to it, but nothing. Maybe, just maybe it'll talk back.

Strange Stuff in Here!

by Grace C.
(Carol Stream, IL, USA)

I don't have a picture, but I have a heck of a story. Well, I live in Carol Stream, Illinois. I can't explain the feeling, but I wish it were a dream. . .

I was home alone and there was a storm. I was watching TV as normal, and there was a big crack of lightning which struck the power lines. They started glowing purple! We live behind a field that I heard a man was killed in, which I didn't believe, until this. The power went out, and it happened. I looked outside and saw something running outside in the field. I figured it was the coyotes that live out there, but I thought wrong.

The moving disappeared. All of a sudden, there was a gust of wind and I felt another presence in the house with me. From the other room I heard a noise, like a butcher knife hitting the floor. Then, I heard a scream and a gasp, and then nothing. I was so freaked out, I sat in the corner huddled under the covers. There was another gust of wind and I saw something in our backyard, running out, holding something dripping. It wasn't clear and it looked like a wisp of air. The power came back on and my parents pulled into the driveway, along with my sister. They walked in, turned on a light, and saw me as white as a sheet covered in blankets. They calmed me down and I told them what happened. They didn't believe me until they saw it.

The kitchen drawer was open, our good knife was missing and, this is weird, there was a huge stain of blood, fresh, on the floor. All of a sudden the radio came on by itself and it was very faint, but I heard something say, "YOU'RE NEXT!!"

Thats all I can say of what happened. So far, I've been okay. But I keep feeling like someone's watching me....

The Midnight Special

by David B
(Lawndale. California)

I was about 16 or so...this was years ago.

I used to stay up late and watch the Midnight Special.

I was leaning up against my leather coach, sitting on the floor watching the show. All the lights were off and everyone else was in bed asleep.

Olivia Newton John Started to sing the song "Magic". That's when I felt it.

Someone sat down on the leather couch next to me. The sound of leather squeaking loudly, I looked over and saw NO ONE. What I did see was a clear indentation of where that 'no one' was sitting. I, in a semi-terrified state said to myself....., "Oooookay".....And I continued to watch the show. When the song was over, I felt that 'some one' get up from the couch....

Needless to say. I got up, turned on all the lights...ran to my room, locked the door, got in bed, closed my eyes and went to sleep.

Yes...I did leave the TV on....I was afraid of turning it off.

It Woke Me Up......AGAIN

by Ashley H
(Chaplin, CT, USA)

This Is an Orb Attacking My Mom. LOL

This Is an Orb Attacking My Mom. LOL

I have had plenty of paranormal experiences. So onto the story.

My brother was on the computer while my mom and I were in her room watching T.V. He ran into the room and asked us "Did you hear that"? We replied "Hear what"? He told us about a voice he heard. The way he described it then was a high-pitched male voice. However, I heard the voice later on and believe it to be an inhuman spirit. It sounded neither male nor female.

My first experience with this entity was later that night. I had fallen asleep around normal time but was jolted awake. I was like, "What the heck?" as most people would be. So anyways, I listened for a second and heard nothing. I was just about to go back to sleep when I heard it. I don't understand why it said this but it did. The entity said "Get down here and clean up your mess." Now I am an entirely messy person, but dude it was 3:00 in the morning. There was no way I was getting up. However after those thoughts flooded my head I realized that everyone was still asleep. I became intrigued but stayed where I was. The entity then said, "I said NOW!" - I mean screamed it. The thing was very mad that I hadn't come downstairs. I decided to act like a mature adult and hide under my blanket until I fell asleep, which, despite what happened, didn't take long.

Nothing happened for a few weeks. Then once again I was jolted awake. This time it was by three extremely distinct knocks. So I yelled, “Come in!" thinking that someone wanted to come in my room. Then I realized that that couldn't be possible because I don't have doors. I have these plastic sliding things. So as much as I loved ghosts it was 2:00 in the morning and I went back to sleep.

After both experiences I wasn't terribly frightened. Shocked, yes, but frightened, no.
Some people think that I was dreaming, but I know that I wasn't. Believe me or not I know what happened and I will always remember.

Haunted House, or Is It?

by Kate B
(Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.)

I was alone one night because my parents had gone out to dinner, my little sister was at her friend's house and my big sister was at a party. I was with my dog at the time and I was watching TV when it felt as if someone was sitting next to me. I saw someone or something sitting next to me in the corner of my eye. I tried to turn my head, but I couldn't. I was that scared. I turned off the TV to see who it was, but there was no one. And then, I was able to move my head.

I was with my sister on Sunday while the rest of my family was out at the market. Anyway, we were just sitting there, playing with the dog when I noticed that the pantry door opened slowly. My sister noticed and she started to shiver. I stood up and walked to the pantry and noticed how cold it was. I closed the door and walked back.

About two days later, I was getting ready for basketball in the bathroom when I heard someone whistle in the house. I was alone, of course, because everyone had gone to my sister's basketball game. I walked out of the bathroom and I saw someone walk around the corner, into the kitchen. I turned the same corner and it was empty.

Please comment on this story and my other ones please.

Thank you for reading.

Living With Ghosts

by Christine B.
(Placerville, CA, USA)

Award Winning Author, Christine B.

Award Winning Author, Christine B.

My first husband and I moved into a home located in North Royalton, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio in 1969. We knew as soon as we drove up the 450 foot driveway that it was the home for us. The home was all brick and nested in towering pine trees. We moved in and were quite happy in our new home. Things were relatively quiet there until my husband and I decided to remodel the kitchen. Our daughter was about a year old at the time. I have learned that resident ghosts do not appreciate the living messing with their homes, and the paranormal activity begun with the first blow of my husband?s hammer.

My husband worked two jobs while I was a stay-at-home mother. One evening as my daughter and I were down in the basement doing laundry I heard something fall heavily onto the living room floor above us. Since I knew that we were the only two people in the house at the time, I was extremely unnerved by the sound. Convinced that someone had entered the house, I took my daughter by the hand and quietly guided her up the stairs and out the back door of the home. We ran to a neighbor's home and I called my husband in a panic. He rushed home. He and a group of neighbors searched the entire home for an intruder. The only thing they found out of place was a handmade ceramic pot that I had always kept on one of the end tables in the living room. It was on the floor near the table. That pot weighed at least ten pounds and would not have fallen off that table (and never did again, by the way) of its own accord.

After that incident I saw people out of the corner of my eye on a daily basis in the house. I saw the same two people so often that it became normal to me, and I just assumed everyone else in the house saw them, as well. Things also began disappearing at the house. The first thing to disappear was an antique rifle that had been given to my husband by his grandfather. Since I have never been a proponent of guns, I asked that my husband keep the rifle in the attic storage space and not purchase any bullets for it. He did as I asked and the rifle was placed right below the light switch between the studs to the right of the entrance of the attic.

One day when I entered the attic and turned on the light I noticed the rifle was gone. I was very upset because we had had house guests that stayed in the upstairs bedroom for a while, so I assumed they had taken the rifle when they moved out. Since the house guests were relatives, I decide to search the attic before accusing them of purloining the rifle. I took every box and item out of the attic storage area, but the rifle could not be found. I resigned myself that I would have to write a letter to my cousin and ask him to return the rifle. Before I could do that, however, I went into the attic again about two weeks later. I switched on the light and to my astonishment, there was the rifle, standing between the two studs where it had always been before it disappeared.

The disappearing rifle was only the first of many things that vanished on a regular basis in the house. Sometimes the things that were taken eventually were returned, other times, we never saw them again.

Another incident that I remember vividly was the case of the disappearing buttons. I had been working on a yellow jacket for weeks and had finally come to the point where all I had left to finish was sewing on the buttons. By this time we had a son too, and as my daughter and son watched TV one evening, I sat in my reclining rocking chair sewing the buttons on the front of the jacket. The phone rang and as I left the room I warned my children not to disturb the chair I had been sitting in. Five minutes later I came back to find that the buttons I had left on the arm of the chair were gone. At first I blamed my children for disturbing the chair, but they swore to me that they had never left their spots in front of the TV. We searched the entire living room looking for those buttons, to the point of me flipping over the chair thinking that the buttons might have slipped down between the seat and the arms. After about an hour of reconnaissance, I gave up and put my children to bed. When I came back into the living room, there were the buttons, exactly where I had left them on the left arm of the chair. I uttered a quiet "Thank you"? and sat back down and finished sewing on my buttons.

Twice we put the home on the market before we actually sold it in 1982. Both times the Realtors who listed the home did one open house each, but no others. Both reported that they heard cars driving up our driveway all day long, but when they went to the door, no one was ever there. That was another regular occurrence at the house. We eventually learned to ignore the sound of a 'car' coming up our 450 foot gravel driveway, because no matter how often we heard it, 95% of the time when we went to investigate, no one was there.

There was a time when I was cleaning the breezeway that attached our garage to our main house when I swore I not only heard my husband's car come up the driveway, but actually heard it pull into the garage. My husband needed a new muffler at the time, so the sound of his car was very distinctive. I waited for several minutes for him to enter the breezeway. I finally went into the garage to find out why he had not come into the house yet, and found the garage empty, and there was no car in the driveway. I shook my head and went back into the breezeway to finish cleaning.

For some reason, spirits have a connection to pennies. No one is exactly sure what the connection is, but often paranormal experiences will have something to do with pennies. Actually, I have found that putting a stack of pennies in a home is a good test to see if it is haunted. If the pennies remain undisturbed, there are probably other explanations for the anomalies one might be experiencing.

One evening, after coming home from visiting a friend who played cards games with my son and daughter, they stacked the pennies my friend gave them on their dressers before going to bed. The next morning I found my daughter and son both asleep huddled together on the couch in the living room. When I asked them why they didn't sleep in their beds they told me they were too scared to sleep in their rooms. My daughter took me into her bedroom to show me that there were several pennies all over her floor. Since I had cleaned my house the day before, I knew her floor had no pennies on it when I put my daughter to bed.

She told me that after she fell asleep she woke up at 1 am to the sound of the cuckoo clock. After she heard the cuckoo go off once, she also heard a creaking on her floorboards in her bedroom, and then the sound of a penny falling onto the wood floor, and rolling around the room before it eventually landed on its side. This routine continued in her room at 2 am, 3 am, and at 4 am. By that time she was so petrified that she went on the couch to sleep. My son joined her there a short time later, claiming the same thing had happened to him! I went into his room, and also found pennies on his floor. I guess the moral of this story is: if you are going to test a ghost with a stack of pennies, make sure the pennies are not in your bedroom!

About a week before I finally moved out of the house, the gentleman spirit who inhabited the house wanted to make sure he made himself known to me. I was divorced at the time, and was going to be married to my second husband. I had sold the house in 1981 and I was doing a final cleaning before moving out. I was alone in the house at the time, completely lost in thoughts of our new place and with my marriage plans. While in my son's bedroom I suddenly felt I was no longer alone. I turned to look into the living room and saw, quite plainly, a man slowly, (drift) move past the doorway. That was the first time I had ever seen the gentleman ghost straight on. Naturally, I was a bit shaken, but went on with my cleaning. (I cleaned a lot back then!)

A few minutes later I moved my cleaning into the living room. There was a large mullioned paned window that presented a view of the pine trees that surrounded a driveway turnaround at the front of the house. I had a plant stand in front of the window and was there cleaning the stand when I felt the entire atmosphere of the house change. It became 'thick and heavy' but not cold as is usually the case with ghostly sightings.

The closest analogy I can give is that the air felt like it was as thick as water. As I kneeled in front of the picture window in the living room I could feel something move through the house from the back door, through the kitchen, into the living room and then stop behind me. All the hairs on the back of my neck and arms stood at full attention at that point. Fighting to keep my composure I said aloud, "I know you don't want me to go, but I have to leave. You're free to come with me, but I have to move on." As soon as I said that, the room's atmosphere became normal again and I no longer felt the spirit standing behind me. That was actually the last time I saw the gentleman spirit. I'm hoping he moved on as well.

Seeing a continuous Ghost!

by Emma M
(Sydney)

I remember when I was about 8 I started to see this black figure with a cowboy hat on. The figure/ghost would walk past my bedroom window all the time. I thought I was seeing things for a while but then I realised that it was no imaginary friend. It was a ghost. Then I didn't stop seeing it up until the age of 11.

I saw it another time. I was in the backyard with my brother. We were home by ourselves. I was jumping on the trampoline and as I jumped up then went down I felt a big huge punch to the centre of my foot. I quickly jumped off and looked underneath the trampoline. Nothing was there. I was really scared, and so was my brother. Then we both looked across the backyard and the same figure I saw was strolling across the yard and went towards the drive-way.

We both saw it and got really scared. So we both ran inside and didn't come out for the rest of the afternoon.

More Ghosts in my House

by Dylan
(Bridge City, Texas, USA)

As I told you my home's guest room may be haunted. But it seems the activities are moving to the living room downstairs under my room.

The first experience was when my mother and I just came into the house. We heard a loud crash. It was like a thin piece of wood falling from a high point. A search of the house revealed the fan in the living room had lost a fan blade. The blade had fallen but we wondered how. We looked at the fan. The small piece connecting the fan and the blade had been cut. This could have been expected except the fan blade was made of metal. The metal was not very old. It looked as if a laser had halved it perfectly.

Then recently during the storms we had in Southeast Texas recently, our power went out. We had my sister and her husband over and he was sleeping on the couch. The storm woke him around 2 o'clock. He watched the lights on the entertainment center flash in what most would call a light show. When he looked at a particular light out of the corner of his eye he saw a woman in a white gown. She was watching the lights with him. In a few seconds she disappeared. She was standing under the fan where the severed blade was.

I will continue to update the activity in my house if it further continues.

Ghosts and Hauntings: Spooky Things in the House

by Laura
(England)

This is the first time i've posted on a site like this, hoping someone can explain any of this?

We moved houses about 11 years ago. I always claimed to my mum seeing someone stood at the top of the stairs which she always said was silly.

A few years ago my next door neighbours died, I was very close to them, they were like an extra set of grandparents. A woman down the road told them she would look after their house if anything happend and she got it after they died. She never looked after it and have pretty much destroyed it now. Ever since they died, strange things have happend. My tv goes fuzzy when there is no reason why it should and never happens when I get my dad to have a look at it.

Things just fall out of nowhere, such as an hour ago I was sitting talking to my mum. We were both watching my dad outside and something gold fell off the shelves. When we looked, the only thing we found was the cd player which was on the floor beneath the shelves, it had been nowhere near them at all.

About a year ago we found out a woman had died in this house, she fell down the stairs and wasn't found for three days. Her room is where I sleep. My bulbs blow every few weeks, in the rest of the house this doesn't tend to happen at all. My stuff goes missing all the time even when I know where it should be. No one else who lives here which is my brother and parents have had any of this happen. It happens when I'm home alone as well so I know it can't be any of them playing jokes on me.

My dog tends to just stare at nothing sometimes, but I assumed that was because she's getting old.
My uncle died a few years ago, my cousins rang us in the middle of the night screaming he was dead. We were very close to him and I've always joked about how he watches over me and stops me getting seriously hurt since I seem to be very accident prone but every time something serious happens I'm fine...

The weirdest thing I've experienced so far happened a few weeks ago. Our toilet is downstairs, these houses were built about 60 years ago for workers who built the dams near our house. They knocked down a village to put in the dam, my grandma always tells me about how they had to carry coffins from the church down to the church in our village at night.

My grandad died when my mum was 17, long before I was born. My mum says that the night before her wedding she saw him sitting on the end of her bed. All my uncles and my aunt claim the same thing. As I came out the toilet I saw a man walk past me, I assumed it was my dad and thought nothing of it. I headed upstairs and past my dad on the way. I asked him when he'd come upstairs since I had just seen him go into the living room. He said he'd been upstairs all afternoon. I then realized that the man I had past could not have been my Dad. He had more hair and it was more grey than my dads, and also a few feet smaller. The weird part is, when I passed the man, it felt normal, like he belonged here.

I know the people who lived here before me and they said that they had tvs turning off for no reason and lamps going off.

Ever since I was 5 I've had the feeling I've been watching in this house. No one ever believed me when I said it was haunted and that there was someone at the top of the stairs. Can anyone explain any of this for me? I've put in as much extra info in as I can, some of it might just be useless.

Haunted House in Brown City, MI

by Shannon T
(Michigan)

My new husband and I were looking to buy our first house together for about a year. We even put in an offer on a house, but our financing fell through. About 6 months later, I had an extremely vivid dream about my dream house. When I awoke in the morning, I was excited and told my husband all about this wonderful house. Less than a week later, our real estate agent called us about a house that he found that he just thought would be perfect for us.

The second we walked through the door, I almost fell over. It was the house from my dream. Everything was exactly where I remembered. A month later, we closed on our new house.

I worked nights for many years, so I often have trouble falling asleep. I spend a few quiet hours watching television and working on my art projects while everyone sleeps. At first, nothing strange happened, but soon enough I began experiencing sightings of dark shadows moving about the house.

I often hear noises like people walking through the house when I know everyone is sleeping upstairs. I have had the feeling of a hand on my shoulder while I sat in a the house completely alone.

One day, while I was alone in the garage, I saw a bicycle move about three inches forward. This scared me, so I went into the house. When I entered the house, all the curtains blew around like a huge gust of wind blew through my house.

Objects will come up missing, then return weeks later. At night, my children are woken up, and I am beginning to think my daughter does not just "fall" out of bed on her own. I have been woken up in the middle of the night with a feeling like someone is staring at me. At first, I thought these things only happened to me. However, my husband and stepson have told me they have been experiencing the same things.

It's strange because there are times when I am completely comfortable in my house, whether there are occurences or not. Other times, I am terrified. It's almost like I have two separate visitors in my home. I love my home, and I do not want to leave it, but I am unsure what to do!

I do not like the idea of angering any spirits that may be here, and I am not experienced enough to take care of this stuff on my own. If the visitors I have are kind and harmless, I have no problem letting them stay, but if they are not good spirits, I really need them to leave. I do not want my children to be in jeopardy. What do I do?

My House In NH

by Charlene
(Pepperell, MA, USA)

We rented this very pretty house in NH. Our son was only a week old when we moved in there.

The upstairs walk-in closet really scared me. I was surprised that it did because I always wanted a walk-in closet. I told myself I was just being silly. We at first slept downstairs because it was just easier with the baby and everything. Well, one day Jamie was drunk and being mean to me. He was cooking hot dogs and had turned the fire off (I seen him do it) and came in the living room yelling and just being a jerk! I told him to stop it and leave me alone and then we both hear the hot dogs are boiling like crazy. In fact, the pan was burning! He runs in the kitchen and turned them off. He was like, I know that I turned the fire off what is going on? He left me alone the rest of the night.

Just sleeping at night, I would hear noises upstairs and this was every night. I would tell myself that it was the cats of which I had two at the time. One time I was hearing the noises and told myself oh it’s just the cats and looked around the living room and they are both down stairs with me!

Another time my son was crying and driving me crazy. He was the baby that slept maybe one to two hours and then screamed his little baby head off! I heard that you should go into the bathroom and just scream to get a grip of yourself before going near the baby so that was what I was doing. Screaming I’m so tired, I can’t take this. I went out to the living room and he wasn’t crying anymore and I could hear music. I go out there and his mobile was wound up and playing for him and he was happy! I said out loud, “Thank you!"

Another time I was in the kitchen doing dishes and something told me GO CHECK THE BABY NOW!!! I ran into the living room and he was not breathing! I had to wake him up and he started breathing again. Very scary and boy was I thankful! I was crying and saying thank you over and over again. I love my son very much and would not want to live without him!

My brother broke up with this girl Kathy that I used to be friends with. Anyway he needed a place to stay and he and this girl Jodi stayed over one night. He was thinking about moving in and having the upstairs bedroom but not after spending the night at our house. He wasn’t around when I woke up the next day and didn’t come back that night so I called and asked him why, that I thought he wanted to move in and share the rent and bills with us. He told me that there was no way that he was moving in with us because that night the bedroom got very cold even with the electric heat blasting (we found out later that he never turned it down and our bill was very expensive) and that things started flying around the room! They left that night because they were so scared! Now they were doing things that they shouldn’t have been doing so maybe it didn’t like them for it! This girl Jodi was beautiful but not anymore because of all the drugs she did!

I don’t think it was a bad spirit because it did help me out with Rian and Jamie but there could have been more then one spirit. I never liked it upstairs I was so very uncomfortable. When Jamie and I did start sleeping up there with the baby once he left for work I would take Rian and myself and go downstairs as fast I could safely. I would not stay up there alone or have my baby up there alone.

That’s about it, expect for hearing banging and stuff upstairs and downstairs. There were times that I thought I had seen shadows and was scared, but then I would try to relax because after all they did save my baby’s life!

Thank you this is all true hope you liked it!

Ghost In the Reflection

by Madison
(Rome, Georgia)

A couple of years ago, I was lying on my bed watching television. It was around midnight or so, and I was the only one awake in the house. I began feeling very cold, even though I was covered up.

Then I felt the back of the bed tremble slightly, and sink down like someone was sitting down on it. I turned the TV off, thinking I was getting sleepy and imagining things. When the screen went black, I saw a blurry figure sitting on the bed behind me. But when I turned around, no one was there.

The man who built our house had a heart attack and died before he finished it. That wasn't the first time I had reason to believe our house was still haunted by him. Upstairs, we had a pool table. Sometimes, the pool balls would fall off the table.

Once, the smoke detector went off upstairs, and it scared me, since it was just after a bad lightning storm. It beeped a few times, then went off. I finally found it next to the windowsill. The thing that terrified me the most, was when I turned it around, there were no batteries in it. I checked everywhere, but I couldn't find any other smoke detectors that could have caused the noise.

My Haunted Apartment

by Cicily M
(Reno, NV, USA)

I used to live in an apartment that had alot of strange activity going on. When I moved into the apartment the previous occupants were an elderly couple who died of natural causes. Of course that made me a little uneasy, but what could I do? I needed a place to live.

I am what people would call a sensitive. I have had many experiences with the paranormal throughout my life, but never as much as I did when I moved into this apartment. I used to wake up at night and feel as though I wasn't alone in my room. Sometimes I would wake up to people talking but no one would be there. For a while, I thought I was losing it. I had many nights where I didn't get any sleep.

My son who was just a baby at the time was deathly afraid to be in his room by himself. I remember one time in particular, I had put my son in his bed and he was sound asleep. About 20 minutes later I heard this horrible cry from my son and I knew something was up. He came running out of his room, his eyes were as wide as golf balls and his skin was a pale white (my son has an olive complexion). It mystified me as to what had happened because this incident took place before he could talk. But deep down I knew that he had seen something that frightened him.

On one occasion my boyfriend at the time had come home from dinner. We were laughing and hugging and all of a sudden, heard a huge crash come from my son's room (he was at his dad's house). We both ran into his room and on an opposite wall, I had a shelf with some figurines on it. When we got there and the figurines were half way across the room and the shelf was still on the wall. Before this occurrence this boyfriend I was speaking of used to tell me that he was very uncomfortable in my house and felt like someone did not want him there...I now understand why.

I used to hear what sounded like footsteps in my hall, my cats at the time used to run around the house making strange noises and chasing something that I could not see. My T.V. would turn back on when I turned it off, and the screen would be blank with a little color. There are so many things that I had experienced there that I'm sure I have forgotten some things.

The picture I am submitting is of my daughter's dad. I'm not sure if the orb in this picture was that of a ghost, his angel, or just a dust particle. I have since moved into another apartment in the same complex, and I often wonder if the new tenants experienced what I had. Since I have the gift that I was born with, I know that this will always happen, but I have never experienced so much activity in one place.

Ghost in Nebraska

by Shawn
(Texas)

The small town that I grew up near was called Dannebrog 15 minutes from Grand Island the house that I lived in was built in the mid 1800s and a man and wife and their daughter lived in there but the wife died of small pox and the daughter caught the disease. When she did the husband went crazy stabbed the daughter to death and then hung himself in what would become our cattle barn.

When my family moved in there we had to fix the house up and that's when things got weird tools would go missing, or would be moved. Every morning it was my job to milk our cows. Well one morning I walked by the barn looking for the milk bucket and I saw the shape of a man hanging from the rafters out of the corner of my eye so I turned to see it full on and nothing was there. The cows were panting like they had been running all night.

We finally bulldozed the cattle barn and when we did we found dozens of dead cats. Well that's my story.

Crash!

by Kathrine
(Red Lion, Pennyslvania, USA)

One night around 3 in the morning, I was sitting on my bed and I heard a really loud crash, kind of like when a bookshelf falls over. It sounded like it came from the living room, so I was walking across the garage to get to the living room and my sister came up the stairs, saw me and asked, "Did you hear that?!"

I looked around the garage nervously to see if anything had fallen over and everything was in place, and I asked, "Yeah, what do you think it was?"

My sister didn't know what it was so she and I went into the living room to see what fell over. When we got to the living room everything was in place too, and I got a chill spot on my back, which is strange because it was in the middle of June. So my sister and I decided to stay in the living room. My sister turned to me and asked "What?" I looked at her confused and asked "What?" She looked at me angrily and said "Katie, you just called my name!" I looked at her really confused and said "No I didn't."

So, about 15 minutes later I was watching a show with my sister and I heard someone say "Kathrine." And it sounded like it was right beside me so I looked around and found nothing. I heard it again and it sounded like a girl in her teens, and she sounded quite a bit like me, so I guess she called my sister’s name too.

Later the next day my friend came over to spend the night and I said, "Marie, I’m going to go grab a soda. Want one?"

She got off my bed and said, "Sure."

While walking through the house to get to the living room, Marie would not let go of my arm. When we got to the living room which is also connected to the kitchen, Marie let go of my arm and I asked "Marie why are you so afraid of my house?" Marie looked at me and answered "Katie, I think your house is haunted, I mean I can feel it and I can hear it."

A few hours later Marie and I were sitting on the couch in the living room and we heard a boy laugh and no boys live in my house, which is really weird. And now every time Marie comes over to my house she either stays close to me or she clings to my arm.

Ghosts and Red Orbs

Red Orbs Everywhere

Red Orbs Everywhere

Ghosts??

I just moved into my new house in the country. I was just settling in to the home until people started coming over talking to us about our ghosts. They said a man hand a bunch of slaves and killed them all. They said the slaves came back as red orbs to attack the man because a week later he died in his house...That's also my house.

Everyone said you still see the red orbs. they said if you took a picture of the house it would have at least one red orb. I didn't really believe them till I took this picture of my g-ma.

Ghosts

by Amber
(Nevada)

Four years ago, my parents were having a little get together for a football game and it was getting late so at around 1am I went to my room to go to bed. I turned my radio on and I heard a little boy say "Mommy, Mommy!" Then as I was running out of my room to tell my mom (because she heard mommy before, too), I felt it touch my leg. I freaked out, I couldn't move. I had a feeling someone was there so I just stood there. I said leave me alone please, I'm not your mom. Then I felt it go away.

We moved out of that city two years later, and at this new house I was sitting in my room and I felt someone behind me so I sat still and didn't move. I finally turned around to see a figure in a ball lying in the corner of my room; I hid my face and prayed. After that I felt relief. So I left my room to go to the garage for something and I walked out and the light in there came back on. I was thinking that's really strange so I turned it back off and left. It came back on as soon as I left the garage. I was so scared.

That same night I was home alone, the doors were locked and everything, but I heard the doorknob to my house being moved. I called my friend (he lived one house away) He came over really fast to protect me and I asked if anyone was there and he said no. He stayed a while to make me feel safe again and I told him about everything that happened that day and my mom called so he left. It was so scary I really believe in Ghosts.

Ghosts in Mankato, MN

by Witknee
(Minneapolis, MN, US)

I will start out by stating that I have been very sensitive to spiritual experiences since I was was very young. So, naturally, I have a healthy understanding and respect of ghosts and certain aspects of the occult lore surrounding them. I have many stories of things that have happened to me over the years, and hopefully I will be able to post them here.

So, I will start with one of the more recent, and most disturbing and downright scary.

Three years ago, I was 19, a college student dabbling in film and English, with no shortage of friends and adventures during the summer. One of my friends from school, Brady, suggested that we take a weekend trip from Minneapolis down to visit his family and friends in Mankato. He set it all up, we were to stay at his mother's the first night, and his father's the second night. I had never met his family before, but he had told me his mom was kind of a packrat, and for money, renovated and rented out a few houses in town.

When we got to his mother's he wasn't kidding. His room, the room we had planned on staying in was full of boxes and other stuff she told us "had been left at a rental property," and she was trying to get in touch with the renters since she had to start renovating where they had left all these things.

Needless to say, it was getting late, it was very hot, and I just wanted to go anywhere that was less cluttered and humid. His mother suggested that we just stay at this property about a half mile away that she was renovating, she said it was a huge house with a fan, a working bathroom, and I could smoke cigarettes inside. I was sold.

We drove to the house, which was up on a hill, and across from a park. It was not quite dark yet, his mom met us there and let us in and gave us a tour.

The front door opened into a large front room, with a staircase going upstairs on your left and the door to the basement stairs on the left beyond that. Straight ahead was the kitchen, with the bathroom that had just been added beyond that, and a living room to the right of the kitchen. The front room was the only room with a finished floor in the downstairs other than the halls. Upstairs, there was a bathroom immediately to your left that didn't work, then a small bedroom, then the master bedroom, which I noted had a small door to a crawl space or attic along the wall.

We shut all the doors up there securely before we went downstairs, no windows were open up there. The only furniture up there was a mattress in the master bedroom, and a shop vac. She said the basement was unfinished, and we didn't venture down there.

It was about 10pm, it was dark out, before his mother left, I already had a strange feeling and I asked her, "Is there anything else I should know?" She said, "No." Later, I found out more stories that predate my time at this house, which if I had known then, I might not have decided to stay here. Also, things that happened after this.

So, Brady and I were left here alone, we found a TV, but all it could get was one channel, and not very well. It was when we set to getting our bedding set up that things started to happen. I went into the downstairs bathroom to brush my teeth and use the bathroom, Brady was in the front room messing with the TV. I was sitting on the toilet, the faucet was not on, but I was brushing my teeth and I heard two knocks on the door. I said something like, "Hold on a minute," and continued, getting up, turning on the faucet, I heard more knocks, louder, on the door. I said, "Geez what's up?" and opened the door only to see an empty hallway.

I went back to the front room and asked Brady what he was trying to pull, he had no idea what I was talking about, and I could tell he didn't do it. Already feeling strange, I wanted to go to bed so I could wake up and leave sooner.

It was about fifteen minutes or so after we laid in our respective sleeping bags side by side, that I started hearing noises upstairs. It started as sequences of a tapping noise, followed by a sort of scrape or scratching noise. The way I was laying I could see the staircase, and I could see up the stairs. I roused Brady and said, "Can you hear that?" He said he could, and we laid silently, listening for several minutes. The noises got louder, and seemed to centralize right over our heads. I started thinking, maybe it's a raccoon or something, but then the noises got so loud and seemed to be on the walls next to us as well. They suddenly stopped. We were looking at each other, whispering about our suspicions of what critter it was, when we both distinctly heard an upstairs door slowly open and slam shut, twice.

I was up like a shot and ran to the bathroom on the floor we were on. I started getting very dark vibes as I had heard those noises and I was now sure, no critter living was up there. Brady came and found me, and it took something to talk me out of that bathroom with the locking door and light. I do not scare easy, but I was scared, something was trying to communicate, and by now, if it was an intelligent spirit, it knew I was sensitive to it's presence.

I know from my experiences as a medium, that not every spirit wants you there, and not every spirit has good intentions either. I could already tell that this was not a good situation.

I went back and laid down, but only after Brady promised to stay up with me if anything else happened. Nothing happened for a long time, and exhaustion got the better of me, I dozed off. About forty minutes later, a sound woke me up, I can only liken it to somebody yelling at you close to your face. I remember that by this point I already had most of my face hidden under a blanket. I peeked an eye out, but saw nothing. I started poking Brady next to me, trying not to be obvious under the blankets. He stirred, I started to whisper that I had just heard something when I felt like somebody was looking at me from the stairs, I turned my one exposed eye towards it only to see this tall black mass blocking the light of the window in the stairs. It was a human form, and compact. I could tell it was male but seemed to have longer hair. I was quiet, and I heard a whisper, "Get out...."

Trying to use any positive energy I could to protect myself, I whispered, "I am sorry to disturb you, we are leaving soon, Please leave me alone, please."

The shadow seemed to move to be right in front of me in a split second. Loud, bellowing, and seemingly spoken by somebody who didn't use English as a first language was, "GEEET OWWWWWT!!!"

I put the blanket over my head and clawed Brady's arm so hard he woke up. He didn't see anything, but did admit it was much colder than it should be given there was no air conditioning. I didn't sleep the rest of the night and no matter what I heard, I didn't remove that blanket from my face. Tapping noises on the walls and footsteps continued.

The Basement.

by Jamie B
(New Carlisle, Indiana, USA)

It was about four years ago but I'll never forget.

It was a small town called Galien, Michigan. I was 16 at the time and I was babysitting on New Years Eve. I was watching a seven year old, a new baby and two five-year old twins. It was a calm night, a bit cold, but no snow coming or happening. It was a little after midnight and all the kids had been in bed for some hours now. I was by myself in the living room, and suddenly the power shut off. I screamed and the seven year old ran down with a flashlight. The pranksters these kids were, I asked him if he did it and he promised up and down he hadn't. Then I went into the basement and found the power box and turned the power back on. As I was leaving the basement, there were two deadbolts. I locked the door at the knob then the deadbolts, and then the power turned off again. I knew this time the kids didn't do it. This is because there were all right next to me.

So I had them follow me into the basement, while I asked them why they more scared than me even when I told him nothing was wrong. They said a family had died in the basement. They were telling me they had a game room in the basement but had to move it out because things where getting broken while no one was home. I was thinking they're pulling my leg. So we left the basement and I locked all the locks again. Made sure the kids went to bed. Then the heat shut off out of nowhere. I just gave the kids more blankets and didn't think of it.

I barely slept that night and what I did was a few minutes at most. Then in the morning the mom came home yelling who went in the basement because the deadbolts were broken off and the door was cracked.

Voices

by Freaked Out
(Utah, USA)

When I was a senior in high school I was in AP Psychology and we had an assignment about the abnormal things that happen, aka ghosts, crop circles, aliens, etc. My friend and I picked ghosts and decided to try a few things we have heard stories about.

First we did the "Candy Man" thing in the mirror, which is so fake. Same with "Bloody Mary." So living in a small city we decided to ask some friends if they heard of any ghost stories. We mainly heard two so we decided that those would be the ones we'd try out and do our report on. The first one we tried out we had to go to the Ogden Cemetery (that is a scary place).

We went when it was dark. We parked by a really big tree and flashed the car lights three times and turned the car off and the tape recorder on. We sat there for over two hours and saw nothing, so we called it a night. On the way home we played the tape back. You could hear us whispering and then when we quit, there was another voice. At first we didn’t believe it and thought it was just our imaginations because we were just in a scary place. The next day we gathered up some friends and that night went to the other location, which is said to be a haunted field.

Kay’s Cross is the field and as the story goes a farmer went crazy and killed his wife and kids, then hung them on crosses so the birds would leave his crops alone, and then later killed himself. So my friends and I went after dark to see if the ghost stories were true. We went to the middle of the field and started a fire. I turned the tape recorder on again just in case. We all talked and tried to freak each other out. Out of nowhere a big gust of wind came and blew out the fire and in the smoke you could see three faces. My friend Amanda screamed “let go of me", but no one was touching her. Everyone grabbed their stuff and started running back to the cars after that. As we were running you could hear children laughing. It was so scary.

When we presented our report we played both tapes again, the one from the cemetery you could hear the other voice and it said, "Leave me alone, just leave, I’m happy here," and then her screaming. The second one you can hear the children laughing and tons of voices that didn’t belong to any of our friends. If you don’t think ghosts are real try taping and you’ll be surprised, it changed my way of thinking.

Haunted Room

One night I was sitting on my bed talking to my boyfriend on the phone. It was about 11:30 at night. My cat jumped off my bed and wanted out of my room so I got up to let him out.

When I was shutting the door it felt like someone was pushing against it. I quickly opened the door and saw nobody out there. It freaked me out but I just blew it off. The next night I was watching T.V. and I started to hear footsteps outside my bedroom door.

Again it was about 11:30. I walked slowly to my door and opened it and nobody was there. By now I was really scared. I called my boyfriend and he came over and sat with me in my room for a while. Then right as soon as we got up so he could leave, we heard loud banging noises coming from the room next to mine. He went to go check it out and when he came back he had a weird look on his face. I asked him if he saw anything and he said he didn't.

I walked him out to his truck and when I went back inside, I saw a shadow standing in my room so I called my boyfriend back. When we went back in there, we saw a shadowed figure standing above my bed. I froze and we left. He ended up staying the night and we slept in the living room. I haven't seen the figure since then, but I have heard strange noises.

Early Morning Visitor

by Mandy
(Indiana)

I was suddenly awake and very aware. I heard what sounded like my bedroom door opening and footsteps on the carpet coming towards me. I have a 5 year old boy and it wouldn't be uncommon for him to awake in the night or early morning and come into my room and climb in bed. He sometimes gets scared.

Anyway, I felt pressure next to me, like someone was climbing onto the bed. That's when things got very strange. No one was there . . . I couldn't open my eyes . . . So, I didn't see anything; however, I was lying on my left side and then someone or something whispered in my ear.

It said 'Miranda, I have a message to you from someone.' So, now I'm lying frozen in my bed repeating in my head, what is it, what is it? I don't hear anything else and can't wait any longer for this message or what was going to come next.

I jump out of bed and turn the light on in my room, the hallway, the bathroom, then lie down with all lights on until I really need to get ready for work. Needless to say, I haven't received the message to this day.

An interesting fact for anyone who reads this: I did know the previous occupants of the house I was renting. Both of the individuals are deceased. Both of the individuals passed away in the house. I wasn't worried about this information . . . even though I was made aware of it after I had already moved in.

The Violin

by Luna
( Miami,Fl)

Since my parents are divorced, my father went back to his home town in France, while my mother and I stayed in the U.S.A. The summer after they got divorced my father wanted me to vist him. That was the winter before he bought this 18th century estate in the country.

When I got there I though it looked really freaky (but my mother thaught me that ghosts aren't real). After I got unpacked, my father called me down for dinner. As I was walking down the hall the lights started to flicker really fast.

I started to walk faster but then I heard my violin playing. My father always liked to play with my violin and he knows I hate it. When I got to my room I saw my violin smashed in to a millon pieces.

When I got to the dinner table, my father decided to tell me a story about the estate. He told me that a girl my age was killed by her dad; he also said that the girl played the violin like me, in my room. He said that it was just a story.

That night I stayed up all with the lights on. The next day I told my father that my mother wanted me back home. Till this day I never sleep in my fathers estate.

-Shine bright,
Luna

A Spooky Night

by Ghostseer (K. Ryan)
(Kauai, Hawaii, USA)

It was just after the sun went down, and I was surprised by the inky blackness. Up in the Kokee Mountains, above the Waimea Canyon, I was alone in the dark.

It had been a pleasant day when I decided to drive up into the mountains. My trusty chihuahua-terrier mix, "Faith," was sitting in her car seat up front with me.

You see, I am retired, and I live on the Island of Kauai. A day doesn't go by when I find an adventure or two. I should probably explain it a bit better.

I live with what is called, "Second Sight." It is the ability to hear and see ethereal beings. Not my choice, but what can one do?..I deal with it the best way I can, after all-I don't know how to live any other way!

Sorry, I went off track for a moment. In the Kokee mountain range, the beauty is beyond explanation. Parking nearest a short trail, I grabbed my hiking boots, and stepped out of my truck. You don't have to go far to see nature in its glory. I didn't forget my dog though. She is so little, I have a doggie backpack, and she goes along for the ride. I call her my "Pocket Puppy." Tucking her into the pack, we were ready to go, and off we went.

I saw a couple of boars, a goat-clinging to the side of a precarious cliff, and lots of exotic birds. Not a surprise. Too late, I noticed the sun was disappearing pretty quickly. I hurried to get down the slope, where I was still exploring. I realized I wasn't going to beat the sunset.

Too soon, I found myself wandering in the dark.

It was like losing your eyesight. I couldn't see my hand in front of my face, and I got a little nervous. I knew the truck wasn't parked that far away, but I had to find my way first.

Straining to see what was in front of me, there was never a doubt I would make it back. It was then I saw the first of the lights.

I thought it was a group of hikers with a new kind of torch. It wasn't yellow, but a bright white. They appeared round, and it reminded me of a light bulb. I'm not sure how many there were, but they were headed in my direction. At least I would meet some folks who could lead me out of there.

I waited for them, standing extra still and straining my ears for sound, any sound!. It was dead silent, and this freaked me out. This wasn't right on so many levels.

The lights continued to come my way, but as soon as they were approximately thirty feet away, they blinked out. One by one..Poof!..gone.. In a blink of an eye, they were gone, all of them.

I didn't know what to think, but then it hit me. RESIDUAL Haunting. This was just a memory from the past, I was sure of it. I wondered if these were the Night Warriors I had heard about?..I did take one photo as they were coming toward me.

Oh!, you can see the picture on my website: www.ghost-e.com (photos page). I took the photo as an afterthought, and I am so glad I got it on film!. You can see how dark the area was, but you can see the lights in formation..

Next time I go up there, I will bring a flashlight!

Maddie's Haunted House

by Mason
(Dyer, IN)

Hi my name is Mason and here are four short stories I'd like to tell. I have an older sister named Hayley. She has a friend named Maddie. She had two dogs but one died. Her grandma lives in the basement. Her basement is finished so it is not like a dungeon or anything like that. When Maddie was only one yr old, her grandma was in the basement with the dog that was still alive. The dog was walking around and it was right in front of her. Her grandma saw the dead dog right behind it--she was so scared.

Here is the second story. Her grandma was in the kitchen all alone in Maddie's house. She was drinking her coffee and then she heard two voices talking to each other. She couldn't understand them at all. It was like a radio that was making a static-y noise.

Here is the third story. Maddie's dad was all alone in the house and it was snowing outside. He heard knocking at the door. He went and opened the door and no one was there. So he shut the door and then a couple minutes later, he heard the knocking again. He went and answered the door and again no one was there, but this time he noticed that there were no footprints in the snow that led up to the door...

Here is the last story. You might not think this one is very scary, but it is very eerie. Maddie's mom's cousin was in the basement and all of a sudden she felt a drop of water on her face which dropped from the ceiling. She told her cousin and they looked at the ceiling and couldn't find any place that the water could have dropped from. Their house was brand new so there couldn't have been any leaks...

Spooky hings in house

by Laura

My Family's Many Ghostly Experiences

by Caroline
(Ohio, USA)

My name is Caroline, but my friends call me Carl (don't ask why). I have had a couple of ghostly experiences. My mother has also told me of hers, and my grandmother has told me of ghostly things that happened at the house they lived in when my dad was a kid.

First I will tell you my ghostly experiences. When I was maybe four or so, my Aunt Mary Anne died. Rest in peace. But anyway, after that, while I was still just a small child, I can remember seeing her. Once I saw her at the foot of my bed. The other time that I can remember, I saw her standing in the doorway of the bathroom. You see, in the house I lived in at the time, my bedroom was right across from the bathroom. Also, my mom told me that once, soon after she died, I was at the library and I told her I had to call Aunt Mary Anne. Keep in mind, this is after her death, and I knew that. I had attended her funeral and everything.

Here are some more recent encounters. In the house I live in now, I was sitting on the foot of the stairs, and I saw a white figure go by the window. Needless to say, I thought it was freaky. My house was probably built in the 70's, but it could be that I saw the ghost of a Native American who used to live on the land or something. Then one time, after my grandmother's cat died, I was in my mom's room, and I saw the shape of a cat sitting on my mom's dresser. I couldn't even make out any features or colors. I just knew it was a cat. Then maybe two to five seconds later, I looked downstairs and my cat Macaroni was at the bottom of the stairs. I don't think Macaroni is that fast and we did not have our second cat Elvis at the time. Could it be the late Gypsy?

My latest encounter was yesterday. My friend Cori was over, and we were drawing. We both love to do that. We heard this door closing in the garage. The weird thing is, it didn't even sound like the door in the garage. But that is beside the point. I grabbed a huge dictionary and I was going to check if I heard it again. I didn't. But after she left, I found the skeleton key that she left at my house, her back door key. She lives in a Victorian era house. It's pretty cool. But do you think she could have brought a ghost?

Now, about my school. It was built in 1910. In the upstairs bathroom, when I am in there alone, I feel like I am being watched. I believe my friends Paige and Morgan have said similar things. And once, at the Father/Daughter dance, or as we called it, the Fa-Da, my friends Cori, Morgan, Lauren, and I all went to the bathroom (Cori was the only one who needed to go, but you know girls). After she was finished and I had applied lip-gloss, we all turned out the lights for about five seconds. As Morgan was turning them on, we heard this loud thump. We were the only ones in there. Morgan said she was against the wall and she felt it vibrate. Needless to say, we got out of there fast. Morgan's exact words were "I have never run so fast in heels in my life!"

Now I shall tell you about my mother's experiences. One of the other stories jogged my memory. My mom had a dream that one of her friends told her goodbye. She thought he was going on a trip or something. He committed suicide.

Also, when her dad (my grandpa) was alive, when my mom was a teenager or preteen, she would go to the pool or somewhere like that with her friends. Her dad would come to the pool or wherever she was, just to check up on her. As soon as my mom and he would make eye contact, he would leave. He was checking on her just to make sure she was okay. She told me that after he died, and I can't remember if this was a one-time thing or if it happened numerous times, that she would see his spirit and after they made eye contact he would disappear. I don't think this has happened in recent years.

And last but not least, here are my grandmother's experiences. Of course, these stories could be dramatizations. I would not know; I wasn't even alive. But she said that sometimes they would hear footsteps on the front porch. She would ask who came home late. My dad had a big family: himself, his mom and dad, seven brothers, and one sister (my poor Aunt Sherry), so it was a possibility that somebody could have come home late. But nobody did. She basically tells me things like that. She could be just being dramatic. But her stories never really change, and from watching Forensic Files a lot, I have learned that if a story doesn't change between tellings, they are usually true.

Well, that's all for now.

Carl. (I explained above.)

My Three Year Old and His Ghosts

by Heather Haynes
(Antelope, CA, USA)

I have a three year old son, who about 6 months ago started telling me of this "thing" that lives in his room. This "thing's" name is Orion and seems to be a child. We kind of blew it off and only made a deal out of it when my son would talk about him every few weeks.

Then all of a sudden, my son is terrified of his room. He cried and screamed like nothing I have ever heard before. He insists there are two more "Orions." He tells me one is a man and the other is a woman. He also told me that Orion has left for two weeks and will be back. When I asked where he went, my son replied he had to visit another house.

My son refuses to step foot into his room and screams and cries and pleads with me not to enter the room. As he clothes and belongings are still in there, I have to go in to grab them.

I tried to bring him into the room with me and he tugged away at me and told me to get out of the room. I picked him up and carried him in the room with me.

He covered his eyes immediately, started to shake and then began to cry the whole time telling me to go out the room and go downstairs.

I am not sure what to do for him. He is so young. I myself have seen ghosts and had one living in my old home. I never feel anything around me here nor have I seen anything. He even persists they are in the room with us and I can't see a thing.

Waterford Ghost "It" Caught in the Mirror

by Eve
(Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA)

Personal haunting at Waterford Fort Wayne, Indiana

Personal haunting at Waterford Fort Wayne, Indiana

When I first moved back to Fort Wayne, Indiana, I came across a great deal on a town house that apparently had been sitting empty for over a year. As long as I signed a one-year lease, I could move right in. Little did I know I would find out later that these apartments were built over a cemetery.

The company initially planned to move the graves (located behind the complex) back for the development of several town homes. ALL WORK WAS STOPPED, and only two of the units were allowed to remain. The rest of the complex was not allowed to be developed, as it was discovered by many locals that they had only moved the headstones back, and not the actual graves!

I lived here for several months, but I just couldn't take it anymore. In the pic, you'll see "It." That's what I named it, but it was too much for me to stay there, as this thing would bother my daughters and I, and even possessed a visitor/friend of mine to the point where I was actually harmed! I moved away the following month and the place again sat empty.

I wonder if the current tenants are bothered by this . . .

Ghost from the Past had Something to Tell Me

by Patricia C
(Thompson, CT, USA)

I visited my sister in Wisconsin three weeks after my daughter was born in July of 2005. She just got home from work for the day and suggested we watch the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Halfway through I noticed my sister fell asleep with my baby daughter in her arms. I smiled to myself wishing I had a camera. I paused the movie and got up to use the bathroom. Since it was in the guest room off of the living room, I decided to leave the door open incase my daughter woke up. I finished my business and was pulling up my pants when something caught the corner of my eye. I looked towards the doorway and froze in shock at what I saw. A twenty-something young man from the fifties or sixties era was leaning on the doorway looking at me. I say that because he looked like a 'greaser'. He had jeans, white t-shirt and a leather jacket with his hair slicked back. Just when I realized what I was looking at and started to scream, he simply said, "Listen to me." It was too late. I was screaming and started to run past him. I tried moving him out of the way but instead slammed my forearm into the doorway.

By the time I got to the living room my sister was screaming at me "WHAT ARE YOU SCREAMING FOR?" I couldn’t choke the words out. I took my daughter from her and just held her to me and cried, rocking back and forth. Once I calmed down I told my sister what happened. Eyes wide and intrigued, my sister bolted for the bathroom. I called after her: "He's probably not there anymore." She came back sulking. Being the good sister she is, she stayed in the guest room with me. I never saw him again, although I wished I had listened to what he wanted to say.

The Haunting in Paula's Cabin

by Sasha D
(Gilbert, AZ, USA )

One winter my church was having a winter retreat. We headed up there and it was snowing just a little bit, but by the time we had woken up the next morning there was snow and snow and snow.

The cabin that we were staying in was called "Paula." Each of the cabins were named after someone who had died who was a Christian, I believe. When you walked in, there was a living room, and two hallways on each side of it. It had a picture of Paula, and her story below it. The two hallways led to separate bathrooms and bedrooms. One of each, on each side. There were very few of us girls staying there, about five, so we stayed on the left side of the cabin. The other side was used to hang our wet clothes after we had trudged through knee-deep snow and got our clothes soaked. No one liked going in there because there was an eerie feel to the room. Anyway, the day dragged on and it was nighttime. Three of the girls were in the mess hall, and two were in the empty room. It was nighttime, and we were drinking hot chocolate and sitting by the fire, likely situation for a cold night. But that was when we heard girls screaming. The two girls who were staying in the cabin came running in the mess hall and were breathless and trying to get their stories out. They eventually got it out:

They were sitting in the cabin when they heard noises like voices in the nearby bathroom, and the water faucets turning on and off. They immediately propped a chair up on the door closest to the bathroom to keep it shut and ran out the back door. At first they thought it to be the boys, but they were all with us or others.

As we went back to the cabin to check things out, I started to feel sick. Right when we got into the room I ran to the bathroom to throw up. Since I was sick, they didn't want the girls in the cabin to keep me up, so they made me - yes this is bad - they made me sleep in the room that the girls heard the noises in. I was reassured when one of the leaders said she'd sleep in the room with me, but she never showed. I, of course, got the living crud scared out of me in that room. I kept waking up to the feeling that something was just about to reach out and touch me, but I woke up in the nick of time. It happened numerous times throughout the night. Finally I called the leader in, and she slept with me in the room. I felt better and lasted with all the shadows, and feelings, and noises in the room, and managed to get through the rest of the night. And I too, heard the noises. My excuse was water running through the pipes, but that was just an excuse.

No one really knows if the noises were the boys, 'Paula', or just the girls' imagination, but what we do know is that the noises were real, they were scary, and we would never stay at that camp again.

Spooky things in house

by Laura

Haunted House -- I Am Not Crazy

by Anonymous
(MI)

I grew up in a large Victorian style home in a small midwest town. I had an active imagination, and decided the creaks and groans I heard meant the house was haunted. But the house next door, where I often babysat, was another story. I was sure that house was haunted.

One night while I was babysitting and the children were with me, I heard what sounded like a ball drop on the floor above me and roll across the room. I was nervous, but shrugged it off thinking something fell on the roof and rolled down. Then I heard it roll back across the room in the other direction. I became freaked out.

After numerous other strange noises upstairs, I called the parents for whom I was sitting and they sent their parents over to check out the house. They went through the entire upstairs and found nothing.

I forgot about the incident until recently, when I met the people who are living in the house now. I laughingly told her how I thought her house was growing up. Her eyes grew wide. She told me she was convinced of the same thing and started sharing stories of doors mysteriously closing, footsteps when no one was there, and more.

At least now I can say I wasn't making things up!

One Home, a Ghost and Four witnesses

by Killinger
(Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

Here's my story of what has happened to me and some of my friends. It's a long one.

I'll start off by noting that this isn't the most exciting story to hear or be told as I'm not the best storyteller in the world, but this is what cemented my opinions on the paranormal involving the 'afterlife'. It's long, but that's because there were many instances that we couldn't begin to explain using simple logic and reasoning.

I was 19 at the time, and had just moved out into my own place with a friend of mine (and then later my girlfriend at the time moved in with us). It was all good, nice little basement suite just off of 19th Ave NW, almost literally a stone's throw away from McMahon Stadium. Though the suite we lived in looks almost brand new, the rest of the house (and neighbourhood, Capitol Hill) was/is pretty old.... I'd say the house was built at least in the mid-late 50s.

Anyway, it had only been about 2 or 3 days since my friend and I moved in when I started experiencing nothing like I have ever before. The way it was set up was that the back door of the house was our front door, the upstairs had a door sectioning off their space, and a staircase led down to our place. The first experience was a door slamming. I had just come in from having a cigarette when I heard it. The door leading outside was closed, the door leading to the upstairs living space was closed, and the door leading into our place at the bottom of the stairs was closed. The sound came from that stairwell, and it scared the hell out of me - haha. I was the only one home - my roommate was at work, and the people upstairs were out.

Of course, when I told my roommate what had happened, he kinda scoffs at me and that was that. Nothing had really happened until my then girlfriend moved in with us.

One instance that involves two witnesses happened when we were all sitting in the living room watching TV. Both my girlfriend and roommate got my attention when they were both letting out gasps of astonishment before they told me that a spoon that had been resting on the edge of a cup had lifted up, pointed down and dropped inside said cup. I didn't see it so it didn't affect me. A couple days later my girlfriend comes out of the shower terrified, saying that she saw someone inside the bathroom through the shower curtain, and then proceeded to tell me that this person had pressed it's hand into the curtain.

My roommate had told me of this one time he was shaken awake from our invisible occupant. It's important to let it be known that he is a very, very heavy sleeper... snores like an elephant (hah!), but managed to be woken up by a mild shake.

Another time while lying in bed I was kind of zoning out when I saw a light... almost like a ball right above my head. It didn't give off any residual light that could be reflected off of anything in that room (which was rather small.) I didn't say anything until my girlfriend asked me if I saw it. It was strange because it didn't reflect anything, and more so because it was coming from an area of the room that had no light sources near it.

Another instance with the light happened during a small birthday party for the girlfriend. Her friend stopped my girlfriend and me to say she saw a light shooting across the ceiling. We kind of shrugged it off because at that point we were pretty much used to the activity going on.

(about half way done)

One day during a weekend when both the girlfriend and I weren't working, we got probably the best occurrence. We were sitting in our room watching TV when we heard what sounded like our roommate knocking on the door. The way he knocks is almost like he's tired....he would make a light knock and then kinda brush his knuckle against the door right after. This is exactly what we heard, exactly, and were slightly convinced that it was him, minus the fact that he had left for work about two hours before and there was no sign of anyone coming downstairs and opening the door.

The second best instance was during a time when we were determined to get solid proof of this thing. We sat in my room in the dark with the door open just a crack. Of course being in the dark, the light, or lack thereof can play tricks. We all knew that as we were sitting there, so we didn't really expect anything to go down. That changed when at the exact same time, my roommate and girlfriend started panicking, saying that a black mass had come in to the room and was right over top of the two of them. The only reason I believed them is because they both reacted at the same time, not one after the other.

One time during Halloween the three of us, plus two of my ex's friends were over and we managed to get everyone in on a table tipping session. For those who might not know, table tipping is where you have everyone rest their fingertips on the top of a table (or in our case a short stool) in hopes that the ghost would use the collective energy of the group to be able to move the table. To say the least, it worked. The stool shifted about two inches towards me. As soon as it moved, we all lifted our hands up because none of us had expected it to work. We were all sitting cross-legged on the floor, so that ruled out any sneaky footwork of any kind.

- I break from the story to point out that I am kind of on the fence with this way of communicating. It's something that can easily be done by someone who doesn't even know they're doing it. The power of suggestion is a strong thing, and I'm not one to jump to the conclusion that whatever happens during table tipping (or even with the board) is the actual works of a disembodied entity -

Most of my own personal experiences consist of seeing, hearing and feeling the entity itself. Unfortunately most of what I saw would be during a mid-turn towards or away from it, so I never got a good look. My eyes, though, were the lesser of the receivers as I heard and felt alot... alot in that place. Most of the time I'd be sitting in the living room and I'd hear someone coming towards or leaving the living room/kitchen area and walk down the hall. I, as well as the other two people I lived with could hear footsteps and shuffling in the hallway. The way the living room was set up was so that the couch had the back facing the opposite side of the house, and my roommate’s chair was on the other side, getting a very good view of the hallway, in which he has seen movement in.

What I would see out of the corner of my eye all the time is what I would feel as well. I'd be sitting in the living room, watching TV and I'd feel someone come into the room and sit down beside me, as if it were one of the people I was living with, except of course, there'd be nobody there. Regularly this would happen, to the point that it would get annoying - mostly because whenever I'd be watching TV and I'd feel this person walk into the room and sit beside me, I'd usually be watching the comedy channel. I'd laugh out loud at a good joke and look over to the person beside me expecting to see the same reaction that I've been giving, yet I'd be alone.

It seemed that whatever was with us had no real intent on scaring us, or harming us. From what I understand now that I've gotten more and more into the paranormal is that it was an intelligent ghost, mainly because of how it seemed to mostly concentrate on my ex. It's been about 2 to 2.5 years since we lived there. I've often thought of going there and asking the current resident if they have experienced anything similar to what I have.... perhaps one day.

** on a side note, I realize that old houses make noises that sound like they are something else, but I eliminated all possible logical explanations because at the time I was a skeptic.

Since then, which was around 2005/06, I've had a few odd things happen to me. One time about three weeks ago, I was playing guitar and noticed a white whisp kinda dart past my right side. It wouldn't have affected me because I most likely would have pinned it on my guitar reflecting light, but the whisp went under the neck of my guitar, and over the gaming console that was in my line of vision. Of course I tried to recreate what happened but nothing worked. After that little incident, one of my friends calls me on my cell phone. After the phone call I noticed the battery was down to one bar even though I had charged it the night before.

A few days after that happened something else went down. I was watching a movie on my computer and ended up falling asleep in the middle of it. It was one of those naps where whatever is going on in the outside world is incorporated into your dream. So in my dream the movie was in the background, but it was getting louder and louder until I woke up to someone saying "shh!" in my ear... also on the right hand side. Again, I would have dismissed it as my subconscious, but I felt it... like there was actual breath behind it.

More recently I've been seeing shadows and vague apparitions on a near constant basis. Unfortunately not hearing as much.

- I pretty much swear on all that I possibly can when I say this is real, especially the 'haunted house.' We lived there for a year and pretty much since day one there was activity. –

The Haunted House On Friendship Lane

by Kit

I have lived in that house on the dark corner of Friendship Lane for 56 years. That house has been there since 1902, and was built on Indian land. I had no idea how many evil murderous things have happened there. Let me tell you my tale.

Since the day I moved in that house, strange, unexplainable things occurred. I would sit in the living room and all of a sudden the remote from the TV would fly across the room and slam into the wall, the front door would open itself as if to let someone in or see someone out, but I wasn't about to leave my (supposed to be) dream home then. The wind chimes that I had hanging in the living room were just above the television and I would sit and rock in the rocker and these certain chimes kept on falling off the hook. I'd pick them up and every time I turned around they would fall off. Finally I got sick and tired of picking them up. I cussed at whatever was doing that. It never did it again.

Besides objects being thrown at me and doors opening and closing in the living room, the top attic, which was made into a bedroom, had a lot of activity. That was where my daughter stayed when she lost her job in California. One night when she was sleeping she felt her bed shake. Then all of a sudden it violently began to thrash around, the close door slammed often and clothes were spewed from their drawers. Her screaming woke me up and I rushed to see what was going on. My wide-eyed daughter ran to me and demanded to never go in that room again. Two weeks after that ordeal I went to put up some clothes. The closet was extremely large and I went all the way inside (big mistake). The door slammed shut and trapped me inside. Fear consumed me as I banged on the door. I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. A repulsive rotting breath of air was breathing up my neck making my hair stand on end. The door flung open and I was pushed out by a surprising force. That was the last time I went into that closet.

The final major occurrence that happened in that house still haunts me to this day. I was laying in my bed all alone in that huge four story house and I got the chills. My head was covered with beads of sweat but I was cold. I was so dizzy I didn't notice the covers being thrown off of me. All of a sudden a hand slipped over my throat and I battled for air. I looked straight ahead only to meet the bloodshot eyes of something so unbelievably horrid that it would make a grown man cry for his mommy. In a complete adrenaline rush I fought myself free and moved out immediately. I will never forget that night. Never.

Ghost House of Rochester, New York

by Tiffany .F.
(New york)

It started in 2008. My family has lived in this one house for 10 years and nothing odd happened until my sister was 19 years old. She was in her room at the time, by herself. She was sitting there and wanted to turn off her light and it wouldn't turn off. So she pulled out the cord where the light was still on. We checked the circuit and nothing seemed to be wrong with it. Within a minute my sister cell phone started to vibrate and the display that tells the time didn't say the time anymore.

It said "this is not your house."

We couldn't understand what this meant. We thought at first my dad was trying to tell us something and give us a warning because my dad died in the year of 1996. Or we thought it was a bad spirit giving us a warning to tell us to get out or else. We have not had any recent activity in the house ever since I started asking god to watch over bad spirits and take them away from this place. So we think it was I think it was a bad spirit that was trying to warn us in some way.

The Whispers of a New House

(Lakewood CA USA)

I had just moved in to my new house and I was happy.

A new school and new friends big back yard and a beautiful house. After starting school, I began to get lots of homework that kept me up until 11:00 pm at night and I would get tired. One night I was very tired and made myself some coffee to help and I don't know if the coffee caused this, but I was doing my math homework and I heard a voice saying my name (every body was sleeping, but me) in a whisper voice "Tony Tony where are you? Hello Tony." That night I began to feel very cold and very scared.

The next day I told my sister and she whispered to me that she hears whispers at night too, so I think my new house is haunted.

My Ghost

by Laura S
(AUS)

On Friday night I heard some noises downstairs so I went to check it out. I couldn't see anything down there so I was about to go back to bed when I heard the noises again but I couldn't see anything.

I could still hear the noises and was walking around trying to find out what they were. I walked past the mirror in our living room and I thought I saw movement in it. I went back to see what the movement was but saw nothing, so I thought that it was just my movement walking around. But when I was about to walk away I saw it again and it wasn't me. I stood there so still. I couldn't move I was so scared.

Then I realized that it was a ghost moving around my house. I turned around but it wasn't there anymore so I turned back to the mirror. There I saw it again. It was right behind me. I turned around again and it wasn't there. I turned back to the mirror. There it was. I asked it, "What do you want?" then I saw its face. It looked exactly like me. It had the same eyes, hair, teeth and body except it was floating and faded in color. I asked again, "Who are you?" Then I saw its lips move the same time as I did the same words as I said. "Who are you?" I said again. It said it at the same time again but this time it answered "I am your ghost." I thought I must have been dreaming so I kicked my foot against the wall and I felt a searing pain. I looked back at my ghost thought the mirror again. "Why can I only see you in the mirror?" It answered, "Because I am your ghost. I am you. I know how you are going to die."

I was scared out of my wits. I ran up stairs and locked myself in my bathroom. Again I looked in the bathroom mirror I saw it again. I ran out of the bathroom back to my room where there was no mirror and hid under my covers. There I stayed all night until morning without any sleep. When I woke up I went straight to the bathroom to look in the mirror again. I couldn't see my ghost. But it did happen because I looked at my toe and it had dried blood on it and was bruised. I went down stairs and my mum asked me, "What were you doing running around the house last night?"

I told her the story about my ghost and showed her proof of my foot. But of course she did not believe me.

This is a true story and now I NEVER EVER get up at night.

My haunted Apartment Building

My family owns an apartment building and ever since I saw younger I've thought the place was haunted. All types of strange phenomena have been going on for years. My dad says he sometimes hears the voice of a little girl when everyone else is asleep. My mom has heard things being moved around in other rooms of the apartment when she's home alone.

A few things have happened to me personally.

I've told my best friend about creepy things I've heard or seen in the house. Once when we were 12, we we're having a sleep over at my house and decided to try to conjure the spirit. Just like 12 year girls we turned off all the lights and grabbed flashlights. We were mostly goofing around about the whole thing until something really scary happened.

We were sitting across from each other on my bed and I started saying something like, "If you are here do something to show yourself."

My window is next to a light on the outside of the building and even though I closes ny blinds at night the light still shines through the gap at the end of the window and on to a bookcase next to my window.

Where I was sitting in the room I could see the light from outside shining on my bookcase and when I asked the spirit to do something, the light from the outside suddenly shut off. Then my best friend screamed and jumped on me. She said that a shadow had covered my whole body.

Another really creepy thing happened more recently. About a year ago, we remodeled the basement apartment as a den or rec room. My thought is it would be nice if I painted a mural down there to liven it up.

One afternoon, I was working on the mural and my aunt and little cousin came over. My cousin wanted to stay in the basement with me while I painted. She sat on the floor and quietly played with some toys and listened to the music I had playing.

Painting is a bit like meditation for me and I tend to go off in my own little world while working. Suddenly I was jerked back to reality by a hard tug on my pants. I shrieked and almost fell off the chair I was standing on. I turned around to tell my little cousin not to sneak up on me but found her still sitting on the floor playing with her toys.

She had not moved from the spot the whole she was down in the basement with me. She just looked at me and said "Why did you scream? You Scared me!" It was very strange.

Now I Know Ghosts Exist - Ghost in the Attic

by Andre C
(Phoenix, AZ)

I have always believed that ghosts exist, but now I know for sure that they do, without a doubt. In 2000, I had moved into a very large house in Scottsdale, Arizona. I rented a room from the married couple that owned the home.

After a couple of months of living there, the woman, Lena, at one point had told me about a ghost she had seen in the living room, one evening, as she was going to bed. Her husband was already in bed. I believed her, but had never felt any presence in the house before she told me this, so I never gave it another thought.

I had lived there several months before an entity decided to make its presence known. I was rarely at the house, as I am not a home-body. On the rare occasion I was home one evening, Lena and I were sitting in the living room, watching TV and talking. Her husband worked until late in the evening, so he was gone and it was just the two of us. We had been sitting there a few hours and a couple of times we heard noises coming from the kitchen. Each time we heard a noise we would stop talking, look at each other like "What was that?" It sounded like things were being moved around, but the noises were brief enough to not warrant investigation. Not yet anyway. She then told me that she and her husband heard odd noises all the time and things would be moved.

I needed to get up early, so I grabbed my comforter and headed for my bedroom. I got half-way down the hallway, where "my" bathroom was - next to the kitchen. At the very instant I was near the bathroom, I heard a loud thumping sound coming from the attic, just above the bathroom. It sounded exactly like someone had walked on a board - like those found in attics - after they shifted their weight. Mind you, I had never been in their attic. I was now officially freaked out.

I ran back into the living room and asked Lena "Did you hear that?" She said "I thought that was you." I said "No, it wasn't me. Someone is in the attic." At this point I was suspecting a ghost. But I wanted to investigate, so that I wouldn't lie in bed all night wondering if some homicidal maniac was in the attic.

I asked Lena if she would allow me to go up there. I had previously seen the attic door/ladder in the ceiling of the garage converted to an office, so I said I would meet her there after going to the bathroom. I REALLY had to go. I was in "my" bathroom while Lena was in the garage-office pulling the door/ladder down. I was in there about 30 seconds until I heard "someone" knock on one of the bathroom doors - VERY LOUDLY. I knew immediately that THAT was a ghost. There were two doors to that bathroom and you have never seen anyone run so fast out the other door, toward the garage-office, where Lena was pulling down the door/ladder. I very excitedly asked if she had heard the knock. She said she hadn't. It was a large house after all.

On my sprint to the garage, I made a point to view the area where the knock originated, and no one was there! I searched all over the attic with a flashlight, where after all, there were boards making paths to walk upon. All that I did see up there was antique furniture.

Later that evening she said that the moment she saw me run into the garage, she knew I had a ghostly experience. Now, as an adult, I have NEVER slept with the light on. I do not scare easily. However, that night and the next, I slept with the light on in my walk-in closet. Of course, the next day she told me that she and her husband were going to California for a week. This was the couple that never went anywhere, that was now leaving me alone in the haunted house. Talk about bad timing.

I didn't see or hear anything else after that evening, thank God. However, I started a conversation with the neighbor across the street, where she had grown up and knew the previous owners that lived in Lena's house. I asked her to describe what the man looked like. She described the very man that Lena had described she had seen in her living room as a ghost. They even used the word "distinguished," separately, to describe him, even though Lena had no idea what the man looked like - while he was alive. The previous owners had passed away before Lena and her husband lived there.

Interestingly, Lena asked me one time if I had adjusted the grandfather clock. I told her "No, of course not." I wouldn't be inclined to do so, nor would I know the first thing about doing so. She asked me again. My reply was "Why would I?". Evidently, the clock was damaged or something. I don't think she fully believed me. I've thought about this since, as it bothered me that she didn't believe me. I think I now know what did mess with the clock.

Scary "Something" Opening our Doors

by Morgan

We Found this on a Paper in our Floor like Outside of My Room

We Found this on a Paper in our Floor like Outside of My Room

A couple nights ago, my sister was up about midnight and I went in there to see what was going on. She said that her door opened by itself and she saw someone with a dark robe with the hood up. Just last night my door opened and it got really cold in my room. Now I'm not one to scare easily but when that door opened and it got cold, I jumped out of bed and ran into my sister’s room. Then her door opened behind me and I ran out of there and into my living room but nothing happened, so I slept in the living room...we still haven’t figured out what it was after looking on line like all today.

Illusions and Sounds Can Be Frightening

by Lydia C
(Malaysia)

Before I start my story, I’d like to emphasize here that even though some of these 'events' occurred, I still have the 'logical' mindset that ghosts don't exist. Lucifer might be real but he doesn't usually have the guts to appear in front of our eyes. Instead, he's only good at playing with our minds.

Two years ago, my family and I shifted to this 'new' house. The spacious crib was a delight to all of us. I had been a little chickened-out at first to sleep in my own room, so I slept with the rest of my family members in the master bedroom. I don't know exactly, but I would always feel goosebumps running up my arms whenever I heard something downstairs as if there were 'something ' prancing around. Then, when I braved myself to sleep alone, I would hear movements coming from the stairs and since the banister is close to my door, I would run to the bathroom to switch on the lights a.s.a.p. in fear that I would hear some ghostly sound, or worse, see some illusion that'd give me an elevated pulse rate. Believe it or not, I even had a 'clear' illusion of a bigger than what I’ve ever seen before, centipede, crawling away from under the sofa. And my house is not even a traditional wooden house! I got my whole family frenzied up only to find nothing behind the TV cabinet where I 'saw' the centipede crawl down.

Yes. I was embarrassed but illusions like that would scare just about anyone when you keep thinking that something would probably crawl over your head when you're about to meet the 'sandman'.

Spooky House Number 13

by Sarah J
(Calgary)

When I was in about grade 6, my family and I moved into a new home. Since the first time I went in it, I never liked that house, but my parents insisted they were getting a great deal and we moved in. The house was also #13 on the block!

For the first year nothing too spectacular happened, although I could never get to sleep without my mother's comfort, which was strange. The next year, when I was about 12, my mom had another baby. I used to have my room upstairs which, one of my little brothers and I slept in, in a bunk bed. One night I was sleeping on the top bunk, and my mom was putting my little brother to sleep on the lower bunk, as he was much younger than me and wanted her to put him to bed. My mom and brother had both fallen asleep on the bottom bunk. But in the middle of the night I was awoken by the old antique rocking chair in the living room rocking. At first I thought it was just my step dad rocking my baby brother back to sleep, as it was normal when the baby would fuss in the night. But I then heard my step dad cough from my parent's room beside mine. I also looked down and saw my mom and brother still on the bottom bunk. I was quite scared at this point.

After probably 5 minutes, the rocking stopped and there were three loud knocks on the wall. This absolutely terrified me and I had to climb down to the bottom bunk with my mom and sleep there. I asked if my step dad had rocked the baby last night and he said no. He had also heard the rocking and the strange knocks on the wall. Another strange thing happened a few years later when I was about 15. I had recently moved my bedroom into the basement, but had been terrified of sleeping down there. Also the lamp beside my bed would strangely burn out way faster than the light bulb normally should, so in order to turn out the light I would have to cross the room to the light switch and turn out the light, and I would run back to my bed and jump in as fast as I could, as I am really scared of the dark, and that room was just generally creepy. Anyways, one night I was up until about 1:30. As I hung up the phone I routinely walked across the room to the light switch, shut it off and ran and jumped back into bed.

Before I shut my eyes I looked at my alarm clock to check the time, as I had to be up early the next morning. To my surprise the LED numbers had changed into two capital letters spelling out the word "NO." I was absolutely terrified! The letter remained there for about a minute and then switched back to the time.

I ran upstairs and had to persuade my mom to come down to the basement to sleep with me, as I would never have been able to sleep down there alone that night. It was a really weird occurrence, which terrified me to no end. Throughout the years we lived there, many little strange happenings went on, too. Everyone's shoes would be neatly placed in pairs in the front closet and many times one shoe would go missing, and we would be unable to find it for months, only to find the missing shoe later in a strange place. This happened several times.

Also my mom collects angels, almost every single angel that would be brought to the house would end up with a broken right wing. This could be a coincidence but it's still creepy! And it was definitely not done by any of my younger siblings, as they would not be able to reach most of them, or knock them down in any way. And last year, once we moved out to a new home, my step dad decided to tell me about the two sightings he saw of the same man. One when he was walking down the hall during the night, the man walked right out in front of him and crossed his path; the second was when he walked up the stairs into the living he saw the same man standing and looking out the window. Thankfully he waited to tell me these as I am terrified of ghosts, and I had a hard time in that house without knowing of those sightings! I am now almost 17 and am still terrified of that house but lucky for me we have moved!!

My mom and I still like to joke that the house was number 13 making it unlucky and scary. But I think that's a coincidence, but still it's spooky to add to all these occurrences.

Cannady's Guest House

by William K
(Pittsburgh, PA, USA)

Believe me, I had never seen anything like this before, and have not seen anything since. Also a quick note before the story. I hear people try to say that sometimes a projection is shown over and over because of environmental conditions, so it kind of replays it over and over. Well please tell me why it is never of someone still "ALIVE." It never happens to anyone living in a house for 70 years or more, an elderly person doesn't come forward and say, I just saw myself walk through the wall and on into the next. Hmmm. Anyone want to take me up on that? Well anyway on with my encounter.

I stayed in a place called the Cannady's Guest House, right on Sir Walter Raleigh St. located in the small town of Manteo. It's on Roanoke Island, NC. I stayed approximately two months in this room. It was 1995 Christmas Eve and I awakened needing to visit the restroom, well I sat up on the edge of the bed looked in the hallway right outside my room and saw a young lady (looked about 27-32 years of age). Gliding smoothly not really walking, it had occurred to me a little later that she was not walking or moving her arms. I first thought to myself someone is in trouble because one of the roomies let a girl stay overnight. You see we were not allowed to have guests of our own.

The house had ten rented rooms. In any case I also said to myself, why now must she be going towards the restroom herself, I looked at my watch and saw that it was about 5:01 in the morning. I really needed to use the restroom myself, so I waited one minute starting to realize I had not heard any noise as she went through the hall and had not heard any sound at all. So I finally decided to use the first floor restroom, (2 story house steps were in front of my room), no other way downstairs unless you go in front of me. She did not.

When I went to look in the hallway, no one was there and the restroom was empty. ***CHILLS, CHILLS*** I have to admit that right away. She was gone. No other way out, unless you jump out the window. The young lady was wearing an earlier time period nightgown all white collar to floor with frilly material at the wrists, also it had a large red stain from neck to mid abdomen, and the width of her body, this was a bloodstain apparently. I spent the next 3 nights downstairs on the couch and the next 2 weeks with the room light on. Never did see it again after that. The house is now 135 years old at least. They are still in business doing the same thing, so if you want to stay there be my guest. LOL I wish Ghost Hunters TV show would visit the place.

Freaky Days Since 17-04-2007

by Merwin
(Heerenveen, Holland)

Now, I don't know how to start with this story so I’ll just say first that it began when my grandmother died. She was 92 years old and was a local farmer in my town in the Second World War. Although she never spoke of it, she had a miserable life. When she was around 14 - 15 years old, her father started to hit her, and abused her a lot. I guess that’s the reason why she can't leave this world; she still wants revenge or something like that.

Well, when she died, our parents took a very old clock from her house that belonged to my grandmother since she was 80 or something. The clock isn't very special, and I don't get why my parents took it because it is really ugly, but that doesn't matter. So one day, I was walking past it to do the dishes (the clock is positioned in the hall, just next to the door of the kitchen) and it was like I could see an image of someone in the reflection of the window. Pity enough I didn't paid attention and couldn't see who it was, but I believe it was the face of my grandmother. No need to say that when I looked again, the image disappeared. That was the first thing that happened.

The second thing happened was on a Tuesday night, I believe. I came home from a long night of playing poker and losing money... and I just wanted to see if there were any lights burning in the house, so I stepped in the kitchen and saw the lights were still burning (I first checked the other rooms, but that’s a detail that isn't very important to the story). I tried to flip the switch but it was stuck or something, so I left it on. Then I walked out of the kitchen, the lights started going on and off, like crazy, and it scared the heck out of me. The next morning (I didn't sleep for a minute that night) all the light bulbs in the kitchen were broken, and the clock was gone. My mother was furious, and blamed me. After a couple of days, the clock reappeared again, at the same place, and I was stunned when my sister came telling me.

The last thing that happened is very hard to believe, but please try:

I was trying to do my homework (I’m 17), when I heard an awful noise coming from the kitchen. The clock had fallen on the floor, and it was shattered to pieces. After picking up some of the pieces, my mom came barging in because she thought I pushed it over. I tried to convince her, but neither she nor the rest of my family believed me. After a couple of hours (3 or 4) my parents went to work and I was all alone in the house. I was watching television when it started flipping channels. At the same time, all the mobile phones started ringing and I ran out of the house.

Since then, strange things have happened like waking up in the middle of the night, and see a vague figure. But I’ll tell that part of the story another time.

Our Haunted Home in Michigan

by Ellie
(Michigan)

My sisters and I grew up in a Cape Cod style home that my dad had built. It was a three-bedroom home and we were the first to live there. The house was built on property that had been part of my grandparents' property. In fact my grandma who was alive at the time moved in with us and sold her house to my aunt and uncle and their seven kids. So as far as we know, nothing horrible or tragic happened on the property.

Both homes had paranormal activity but I am going to discuss the home that my dad built. When we moved in to our home, I was 6 and my older sis was 7 and nothing much happened until years later when we were probably 12 and 13. The first thing I remember was when my grandma was off visiting relatives and my mom allowed us (myself and my sister) to sleep in my grandma's room.

We lay down to sleep when we heard what we thought was the baby crib side falling down. Now my little sister had been born and my mom left a crib in the living room to lay her in during the day. My sister and I thought we heard the side of the crib slide down...as one would do when you wanted to lay the baby down. It made a very distinct clicking sound and we immediately thought my mom was up with our baby sister. Upon investigation, however, there was no one about.

We went back to my grandma's bed, convincing ourselves we had just imagined what we heard. As we were about to doze off, we heard the creaking of my mom's leather rocking chair. We got up again and looked down the hallway.... we could see the chair from there, and it was rocking...but there was no one in it. We rushed back to the safety of grandma's bed a bit shaken up! Although, my sis came up with the explanation that my mom probably had been in the chair with our baby sister and had gotten up to put her to bed and the chair just hadn't stopped rocking yet. Ok, I believed it.

So the next morning at breakfast my mom announced she felt great, as my little sister had slept though the night!!! I asked her if she had gotten up at all during the night and she replied, "No." We were convinced then and there we had a ghost!!!

Not too long after that, our cousins came to spend a weekend. This was nothing new as, we either went to their house up north on weekends or they came to our house. My cousins (I'll call them Jay and Jeff) were lying down to sleep in the livingroom, as with seven kids and five adults (grandma was home). there weren't enough beds. Anyways, my cousin Jay awoke to the sound of the chair rocking...he too, thought it was my mom at first, but when he looked, he saw the outline of a young boy. Thinking it was his brother, Jeff, he whispered to "it."

Jeff who was lying next to him asked him what he wanted. At this point my cousin Jay was officially a little freaked out and the figure disappeared!! Of course, chaos erupted and my aunt and uncle were awakened and after he relayed what had happened he was told it was just a vivid dream. Well, the very next day we compared stories and were total believers from there on out.

Things picked up from there. We started hearing footsteps in the hall outside our bedrooms, even my parents admitted to hearing this. My mom also had an experience with the paranormal. My mom and dad were in bed one night when my mom awoke with a feeling that she was being watched. When she looked toward the end of her bed she saw her deceased father. He walked around the bed and smiled at her and then walked out the door into the hallway. During the time he was there my mom had tried to awaken my father but he didn't wake up. She was quite shaken and even a little scared.

At the time it happened my mom didn't tell us girls of the event as she didn't want to scare us any further. When my baby sister was about six or seven, she refused to go upstairs by herself and claimed there was a little boy up there that scared her. (Note: it was only us three girls no boys in the house, although my mom and dad lost a son when he was only a few days old).

As teenagers, we started to receive what we called "phantom phone calls". The phone would ring and we'd pick it up and no one would be on the line.... we'd hang it up and a few moments later we would hear the phone in my parents' bedroom up stairs go off beeping like they do when the phone was left off the hook. We'd go in and look and it looked like someone had picked up the receiver and laid it nicely on the nightstand. We could never figure out how we could get calls with the other phone being off the hook. This happened almost constantly and even when my parents were home. Many other occurrences happened, the usual missing item showing up in weird places and such. After I moved out, my parents moved, and we often wonder if the new owners have ever experience anything.

Family Haunted

by Rainnie
(Missouri)

I live in a small town. The house I am going to tell you about we have moved from. Not just my family, but also my husband’s family who lived there before us shared all of these experiences.

Before we moved in, the whole family was over at the house for dinner. My husband, his brother, and myself were sitting in the living room and an ashtray just came up off the table and dropped. Then my mother in law asked who called out for her, and we told her that no one did. We were the only 4 people in the house. Everyone else was outside.

That was just the beginning. After my husband and I and our two sons moved in, things got worse. My husband and I both started to see a person outside the front door. There was a door-sized window next to the door and we would look up and see her!!! My kids would tell us about the man in their closet. Now my kids know that there is no monster in the closet. But they would tell us what he looked like, and I saw him one night. There was one bathroom with a door that connected my son’s room with the hallway. One night my son called for me and I went to turn into this bathroom and saw him. He was wearing clothes from the 1900's and was very dark and skinny, which my husband was not at the time so I knew it wasn’t him.

There was also a small child there. My husband and I would be home alone watching TV. And would see a small boy peeking at us from around the corner. There were only three things that truly scared us. One was a Spiderman comic my husband framed and hung on the wall.

One day we were leaving the house and heard a crash in the kitchen. When we went to go find out what it was, the frame had flown 8 feet from the wall and was lying in the middle of the kitchen floor. It flew past my table and onto the other side. The second was a voice that several of us heard. It said goodbye as we were moving out. But the scariest one happened to just me.

I was pregnant with my third child and was having a hard time falling asleep one night. I had just rolled over on my side and was facing my husband when I suddenly could not move. I felt something holding me down. I tried to touch my husband’s arm which was only 2 inches away but couldn’t. I tried to say his name to wake him but couldn’t. This feeling lasted for a couple of minutes. When I finally could move I stood up and woke my husband and told him about it. Then I said out loud to the spirits that I could live with them scaring me and my husband but that I would not stand for them scaring my kids or harming us anymore.

That is what caused us to move. But after I made my statement to the spirits they did leave my kids alone. They just came after all of the adults in my family. I have also talked to several people who used to live in that house and learned that they had the same experiences as my family.

My House

by Fred B
(Elkhart Lake, WI, USA)

I heard a little girl laughing and walking down the steps. My heater or lamp will shut off. You sometimes hear voices at night when sleeping. It's an old house and I guess the girl died there. It is freindly, though. It came down stairs where we had the bar and was crying and talking to my dad. It only comes during the winter.

Ghosts and Hauntings - An Old House in Michigan

by Shannon T
(Michigan)

When I was a child, my family rented an old house in the middle of nowhere. I really don't have any good memories of living in that house. All the memories I have terrify me.

The most frightening was the time when my younger sister, my mother, and I were watching the movie "The Neverending Story," and my mom decided to record the song that played during the credits at the end of the movie. She put a cassette in the recorder and pushed the button. When she went to play back the cassette, we heard a strange raspy voice and it said, "I am the troll. Get out of this house now."

My mom immediately thought that someone had been playing around at the factory where the tape was made, so she took us to the store and we got some new cassettes. When we got home, she again tried to record the song. It did the same thing as it did the first time, only the voice sounded angrier. When my dad got home from work, she tried to play the cassettes for him, but there was nothing on either one of them.

Another memory I have is of a night when our family was watching a movie together. My mom had stayed home from work because we had a terrible snowstorm. Nobody could get up or down our road, so nobody had even bothered to go out to check the mail that day. We heard a car pull into the driveway, the car door slam shut, someone stomp onto our snow-covered porch, and pound on the door. My dad got up to see who it was, but there was no one there. There were no footprints in the snow and no car in the driveway.

There was no basement under that house, but anyone who sat at our kitchen table would swear there was. One could hear sounds coming from under the floor like chains rattling and objects moving around. This became so common that we didn't bother talking about them when we heard them.

We had several dogs who disappeared for no reason. I can understand having one or two dogs run away, but we had at least four that I remember.

At night, my sister and I slept in the same bed because we were terrified to sleep alone. We would beg my mother to let us sleep downstairs in her bedroom.

Fortunately, my parents saved up to buy their first house, and we were able to move. Now I live about five miles from that house, and it actually scares me to drive by. I don't think anyone lives there now, and it truly looks like the stereotypical haunted house you'd see in a movie.

Sometimes when I watch a scary movie, it almost makes me laugh because those writers have no idea what scary really is.

Oak Harbor, Washingon Ghost

by Ian
(Washington)

I only lived in this small apt, 1 of 4 above an old store downtown, for a short while when one day my cat stood up with hair on end and ran out of the living room, just as the stereo increased 10 fold in volume and 2 glass ashtrays broke from the center outward into 3 triangular pieces.

Can I have an explanation for this, please! Furthermore, my neighbors introduced themselves to me about the same time, starting the conversation with "do your water faucets turn on and off by themselves?," then proceeded to recount odd things in their apartment as well.

I guess I should add that on one more occasion an ashtray once again broke into the same triangular pattern. Very odd, wouldn't you think?

My Son Sees Ghosts

by Jill
(Phoenix Az )

My 6 year old sees and talks to ghosts. Yes it scares me. One ghost really wanted my son's attention really bad. The ghost scratched my son and my son came running out of the room crying that a ghost man hurt him. Of course, I didn't believe it at first until I looked. I was so shocked at what I saw.

We had other experiences in this house we were renting. Someone knocked on the wall and we all were in the same room. So I got up, knocked back and sure enough, it knocked back. Doors would open and close by themselves.

Let's just say we moved.

Ghosts

by Connor

One day a few months ago when I was living in new Hampshire in a ninety year old farm house I was awaken in the middle of the night by someone. The person shook me very roughly but when I jumped up out of my deep sleep, nobody was there. A little bit later I heard a voice. It was similar to my step dad's voice so I assumed it to of been his and that he was upstairs. I talked to him for maybe ten minutes until he told me to come up for breakfast. When I got upstairs everyone was still fast asleep. The day after that I mentioned this to my Mom and to my surprise she said she had been woken up by me the night before.

I also own a clock given to me by my great grandmother. The clock does not usually work as it is old and the key was still in her house. Exactly one year after she had died the clock chimed.

I have no explanation of either of these stories but like all of you strange things do happen to me and I have learned to accept it.
