Most haunted town eh? That's funny I never heard of it in any ghost media. Let's see it compete with New Orleans.

I'm not trying to bring your spirits down, but let me give you some advice.
1. you never start with something like: "I have an interesting tale" your readers will get bored and stop. Try to make it come alive. Like maybe, "To all those who have lived in ...and are fascinated by the paranormal, especially those stories in your town. You would enjoy this tale that takes place in this very town." That may bring some interest. Spice it up.
2. if you want to create a short story, make it longer than two paragraphs. Add some chapters but make them short. Add some visual words in there too. Try to make the readers picture what the town looks like. I read it and I can't picture it. I have never heard of the town before. So say what the roads are. Are they deserted, are they busy, are people walking on the sidewalks? What is the scenery and what is the weather like? Is is cold in the winter? Does snow fall, or is it like Florida? Or is it a mixture? try to "Paint" with the words. Describe what the neighborhood looks like. What does the cottage look like, the characters, their personality etc.
So just try to spice it up and I guarantee that it will get more than one star. I am a writer myself. I've written books, a short story that I'm working on now, and even a few plays. So happy writing!!! :)

How old are you? Because it sounds like you may be fibbing a bit. Lived in Atchison all my life and never heard that one.
