The woman could have been looking out for your lovely daughter like a guardian angel I believe everyone has one. On the other hand, I believe in ghosts and it could have been that I don't believe a ghost would harm anyone unless they were upset with them. A baby couldn't upset anyone unless they're crying too much, but as you said your baby was asleep.
