Haunted Stream Anomaly
Snapped this photo on Sept. 17, 2007 during a "Ghost Walk" in Gettysburg, PA. The stream, which is dried up now and surrounded by a concrete culvert, was once a deep, rapid running stream during the Civil War. Soldiers wounded on the battlefields close by would crawl to the stream for a cool drink of water; many died in the stream and were buried in mass graves along the banks. Apparently, the townspeople didn't know what to do with their bodies, so they buried them on the spot. This particular spot behind some houses off of a main street downtown was completely dark at around 8:15pm. I wasn't sure the flash would work, but I gave it a try. I was the only one with a camera on the tour. I only wish I had set my digital to video instead of photo. I can only imagine what I might have captured.
