A Cry in the Night

A girl named Lizzy was sitting on her bed with her brother in the next room. Since both her parents work late she takes care of little billy.
She was looking through photos of her old boy friend Kenny. Lizzy was pretty depressed because he just broke up with her two days ago. She had always liked him but there was something strange about that guy. He always looked around like someone was spying on him, whenever people were near he always talked to her in whispers, and he just looked creepy! Lizzy always looked past that. She loved him and he loved her. That was all that mattered.
But now she had to forget him.
Suddenly a sharp cry came from Billy's room and Lizzy rushed in. Billy was fast asleep. Puzzled she inspected him. She found nothing suspicious except a tiny scratch on his neck. So tiny a kitten could have made it.
Lizzy payed no attention to it and went back to her room. Soon she drifted off to sleep.
The next day was spent by doing chores and mourning over Kenny. When she put Billy to bed that night his eyes opened wide, like if she left him, a mad alligator would come out of the closet and swallow him. Again Lizzy payed no attention as she tucked him in.
She went to bed, but about ten minutes later the cry came from Billy's room again. She saw he was still sleeping but did not inspect him. Because of that Lizzy didn't know that the scratch got deeper that night.
The same thing continued every night until Lizzy did not check on him anymore. But one particular night Lizzy was up reading, and the same old cry happened - but she could hear something else. Laughter.
She dashed into Billy's room. Kenny stood by her brother's bed with Billy's head in one hand and the knife in the other. "Did you miss me?" he called.
