Ghost Movies

Death of a Ghost HunterCruising the aisles at Blockbuster, looking for ghost movies, I spotted this DVD on the bottom shelf. There was one lone copy tucked in the corner with the title, "Death of a Ghost Hunter." The title and graphics drew me in like a moth to a flame. A lover of ghosts, ghost movies or scary movies, I have a propensity for the genre and am always in search of a good ghost story when I rent movies. It's just in my blood.

So I wanted to share this find with you guys.

The movie is about a famous paranormal investigator who is offered $5,000 to stay overnight in a haunted house in order to prove or disprove that it is haunted. This is not a mainstream film and is done documentary style. The vibe is an amateur film, so don't get upset when the acting isn't up to par or you find technical things you can easily critique. Granted it isn't A list. However, the story is very good and the premise is quite original. Above all, it's pretty darn scary. Even I, a horror movies buff had to turn it off when I found myself the only one awake in the darkness of my house at midnight. I finished the story by daylight the next morning. That is rare for me and why I feel compelled to tell you about it.

While I doubt this is a true story as the film claims, it contains much realism. You paranormal types will enjoy the technical investigative jargon and use of computer gear to analyze the data from the research. Much of the film is like watching Ghost Hunters or Paranormal State, but the film steps over the line and gives you some very scary, paranormal activity - a whopping helping of spectral meat for your paranormal sandwich.

I won't go into details because I don't want to ruin it for you. You just have watch it and see for yourself. I will tell you this house is as haunted as that in the film Poltergeist, but there is no Craig T. Nelson to smooth your jitters with humor. This is all scares.

You can order it through Blockbuster.com. By the way, Blockbuster now has online movie rentals. You can now download movies online.

Or you can click here to own it

There is a good chance you won't find this in your neighborhood video store because it's virtually unknown and there was only one copy in my store. That means there's a chance it will be checked out. So just in case, use one of the methods above and you'll be sure to get good and scared with this spooky selection.

Enjoy!
